Fifth gym franchise for entrepreneur family

A fifth fitness franchise is to be opened by a family of entrepreneurs following development work at a former cinema venue in Liverpool.

Brother and sister team Sophie and James Hoyle, along with their father, David, already operate four Anytime Fitness franchises across the North West.

Currently these venues are in Knutsford, Bramhall, Macclesfield and Stockton Heath. Now the team is set to open their fifth, in a former Odeon cinema at 182 Allerton Road in Liverpool, empty for almost 10 years.

Anytime Fitness is one of the most successful franchise operations in the world, with more than 3,000 venues open across the globe. Its centres are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to members.

The new 6,500 sq ft Liverpool gym is expected to attract 1,500 gymgoers to its 6,500 square feet when it opens in September.

David Hoyle, of North West Leisure Ltd, was advised by Martin Long, Commercial Property partner at regional law firm Napthens.

Martin said: “The Hoyles have worked hard to build their business from one franchise to the point where they are ready to open their fifth.

“Anytime Fitness has a unique offering of 24/7 access for members and I’m looking forward to seeing the Liverpool franchise do well.”

The Hoyle family is also behind a well-known chain of children’s nurseries, Happy Days Childcare.

David Hoyle added: “Currently we are carrying out extensive building work to the venue, which many people in the area will remember as a former cinema.

“It’s a great, busy location, and we’re confident we can replicate the success of our previous venues.”
