Personal license renewals: an update

Napthens - December 15th 2014

We recently advised that guidance was expected on how personal licence renewals should be dealt with in the transitional period between the first batch of personal licences falling due for renewal and the coming into force of the Deregulation Bill, which will remove the requirement for personal licences to be renewed.

The guidance has now been issued and copy can be viewed online.

In summary, the existing personal licence and an application for renewal will need to be submitted to the relevant local authority at least one month and no more than three months before the licence is due to expire, but there will be no requirement to submit a fee, criminal convictions certificate, criminal records certificate or the results of a subject access search of the Police National Computer.
