Martin Beardsworth

Martin Beardsworth is a Partner at Napthens and heads the firm’s Preston-based commercial property practice. With more than 20 years’ experience advising on a broad range of real estate matters, Martin works with developers, landowners, businesses, investors, pension funds and lenders across the north west and beyond. He is known for providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice that helps clients achieve their objectives while effectively managing risk.

Recognised by The Legal 500 as a Leading Partner in commercial property, Martin is described as being “well-equipped to handle development and acquisition work”.

Martin has particular expertise in development and strategic land matters, acting for both landowners and residential and commercial developers on site acquisitions and disposals, option agreements, promotion agreements, conditional contracts and complex development and overage arrangements.

He also advises landlords and tenants on a wide range of leasing and asset management matters, including the grant of new leases, assignments, lease renewals, licences for alterations and rent deposit deeds. In addition, Martin supports businesses, investors and property owners on commercial property acquisitions, disposals and portfolio management.

Martin has extensive experience advising on property finance transactions and regularly acts for lenders and borrowers in relation to secured lending arrangements, including development and investment projects. He also advises a major north west retailer on acquisitions, disposals, estate management and the rollout of EV charging infrastructure across its property portfolio.
