Jon leads Napthens’ commercial team. He is an experienced commercial and compliance lawyer and senior leader in industry, and has spent many years managing the legal needs of well-known businesses. His experience includes drafting commercial agreements of all kinds, including IT procurement; outsourcing agreements, cross-border arrangements and agency terms; providing compliance and regulatory advice; Intellectual Property management and e-commerce.
Jon has particular expertise within the travel & tourism, transport and retail sectors, having worked for market leading companies in all of these areas. Jon is also a Data Protection Practitioner and has considerable expertise in the area of Data Privacy. He is recognised as a leading individual in the 2023 Legal 500 listings.
Jon has strong French and German language skills.
Jon joined Napthens in February of 2018 after 17 years working in senior legal positions for some of the UK’s best-known businesses. These included the high street retailer Co-op and the European transport group Arriva. Prior to joining Napthens Jon spent over 9 years as Legal Director of Wyndham Destination Network, one of the country’s largest tourism businesses, where he looked after the legal affairs of brands such as Hoseasons, cottages.com, English Country Cottages and James Villas. Prior to this, Jon spent time in private practice with DLA Piper and Eversheds.
Jon went to school in Bolton before going to university at Oxford. He lives in Skipton with his wife and 3 children.
