Summary

James is an experienced commercial litigator with over 10 years’ experience in dealing with all forms of litigation and alternative dispute resolution and proceedings in all Courts including the County Court, High Court and appeal courts. James aims to steer clients through the litigation process as smoothly as possible and always takes a commercial approach to disputes with a view to achieving the best possible outcome for a client whether they are claimant or defendant.

Specialisms

James acts for both individuals and businesses across a wide range of industry sectors.  He is a member of Napthens manufacturing sector and leisure sector specialist teams. James’ expertise covers:

  • Contractual disputes
  • Professional negligence claims
  • Shareholder disputes
  • Injunctive relief including freezing injunctions
  • Sale of goods/supply of services disputes
  • Commercial debt recovery and enforcement action
  • Insolvency proceedings – both bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings

Background

James joined Napthens in 2021. Following his qualification in 2010, James worked at both large national and international law firms including Brabners and Hill Dickinson acquiring excellent experience handling high value and complex litigation. James joins Napthens’ Liverpool office and he has a real affiliation with the city having moved to Liverpool in 2004 to study law at Liverpool University.

What is your proudest achievement?

Being a dad to two beautiful daughters who amaze me and keep me on my toes in equal measure.

What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding?

Going on a journey with a client, guiding them through a case to a successful outcome to then enable them to move on with their life being in a better position than when I first met them.
