Clare is a Senior Associate Solicitor in our Commercial Property Department based in our Preston office. With experience of acting for large national companies, housing associations together with local and regional businesses Clare has worked on all aspects of commercial property. Clare is down to earth, approachable and works hard to ensure our clients’ needs and timescales are met.
Specialisms
Clare is a highly experienced commercial property lawyer and has a breath of knowledge and experience covering investment property acquisitions, disposals, asset management activity together with any Landlord and Tenant issues - acting for both Landlord and Tenant. Advising on development site acquisitions through conditional contracts, option agreements, including dealing with overage agreements, defective title rectification and working collaboratively with funders to secure funding agreements. She has particular expertise in retail, office and logistics property having worked for many years on a large, national retailers extensive trading and investment portfolio.
Background
Clare joined Napthens in 2021 having previously worked for a firm in Chester and prior to that she worked for over 10 years at a leading firm in Manchester. Born and raised in Newcastle Upon Tyne she read Modern History at Oxford University and completed the conversion to law at the Chester College of Law.

How do you like to relax out of work?
I have a have 3-year-old working cocker spaniel that I love to walk extensively. I am also a lifelong Sunderland supporter so I try to watch whenever I can.
Name your favourite: book / film / music
Les Misérables the musical. I have seen this musical over 10 times as well as the concert version.
If you had an alternative career – what would be your fantasy job?
Years of county squash playing has led to numerous injuries. Now do Pilates as more “intelligent exercise “. Pilates instructor would be an alternative career and would keep the injuries at bay!
