Summary

Andrew Holden is the Head of Napthens’ Rural team, handling a wide range of property and business matters including land and property sales and purchases, granting or surrender of easements, development clawback and option agreements, partnership agreements and dissolutions and agricultural tenancy matters.  Andrew has also been dealing with various renewable energy schemes for several years for both the landowner and also for the developer.

Specialisms

Andrew specialises in land and agricultural property transactions including Basic Payments and agricultural tenancies. He deals with all the leading agricultural banks. He acts for a broad range of clients and has acted on sales purchases and re-mortgage transactions at all levels, from thousands of pounds to multi million pound transactions. Andrew also specialises in sales by auction and tender and renewable energy projects.

Andrew plays a key role in delivery of the Farm Future by Napthens service for rural clients.

Andrew speaks regularly to farmers groups and seminars on rural matters and has established and runs a rural professionals network in both Lancashire and Cumbria.

Background

Andrew joined Napthens in 2006. He has lived and worked in the region all his life being brought up in Goosnargh where he lives with his wife and three children.  He remained in Preston for his training, attending the University of Central Lancashire for his degree in Law with Business Information Systems, remaining there to undertake his LPC.  Andrew has grown up in a farming community and has acted solely for farmers and landowners since 2006.

Memberships and Awards

Andrew is a member of the Agricultural Law Association, the CLA and the NFU.  He is also a member of Fylde Farmers and on the committee of the Garstang Agricultural and Horticultural Show Society.

Andrew was named a leading individual in Legal 500 2021.

Andrew won the LBV Young ‘Un in Law 2016 award, with judge's comments: "Andrew is plain speaking and passionate. He thrives on innovation, cares about his clients and the customer is at the heart of everything he does. He is clearly a market shaper with unparalleled knowledge of the rural sector."

Footballer (getting paid to play football!)

How do you relax out of Work?
I like watching football (Liverpool), socialising with friends, days out with the family and getting my hands dirty doing DIY around the home.

Queuing, sticky labels that don't come off easily, moths and flies and telemarketing calls to name a few!
