Extended licensing hours for Queen's 90th birthday

Napthens - March 31st 2016

The Prime Minister has announced that pubs will be permitted extended licensing hours to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.  The measure has yet to go through the usual consultation process but, if approved, would continue the trend of extending licensing hours for royal celebrations, previous ones having included the Royal Wedding in 2011 and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

The proposal is that those pubs which are already licensed to trade until 23:00 will have their hours extended to 01:00 am on Saturday 11th June and Sunday 12th June.

It is also worth noting that England are scheduled to play Russia in the European Championships on the evening of Saturday 11th June.

We will of course keep you informed of further developments, but if you require any advice in the meantime then please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Licensing team here at Napthens.
