Nicola is an Associate Solicitor in our Disputes and Litigation team. She has over 10 years of experience in a broad range of civil litigation and disputes, representing both commercial and individual clients, with a particular focus on contested probate and wills. One highlight in her career to date was successfully defending a claim alleging a privileged (oral) will.
Nicola specialises in disputes and claims relating to Wills, Probate and Trusts including Inheritance Act claims, claims challenging the validity of a will, issues concerning mental capacity and undue influence and disputes relating to the performance of Executors, Personal Representatives and Trustees duties.
She also advises and represents clients in relation to interests in jointly and solely owned property. The need for such advise often arises within the context of claims against estates, particularly claims made by surviving cohabitees or spouses and more generally, in claims between cohabitees following the breakdown of a relationship.
Nicola joined Napthens in 2016, having previously worked as the Head of Civil Litigation at an East Lancashire firm, where she trained and qualified as a solicitor in 2005.
Nicola was educated at Kirkham Grammar School before going on to study Law and Criminology at Sheffield University. She then completed her Legal Practice Course with Distinction at The University of Central Lancashire. Nicola grew up in Kirkham and continues to live in the Preston area with her family.
