Nicola is a Legal Director in our Disputes and Litigation team. She has over 15 years of experience in a broad range of civil litigation and disputes, representing both commercial and individual clients, with a particular focus on contested probate and wills.
Nicola specialises in disputes relating to Wills,Probate, Estates and Trusts including disputes between beneficiaries and executors or trustees regarding the performance of their duties and the administration of estates or trusts. She also handles Inheritance Act claims for provision from an estate and claims regarding undue influence, mental capacity and other claims which seek to challenge the validity of a will. One highlight to date was successfully defending a claim alleging an oral will of a testator who died in combat.
Her specialism extends to claims relating to disputes regarding jointly and solely owned property. The need for such advise often arises within the context of claims against estates, particularly claims made by surviving cohabitees or spouses and more generally, in claims between cohabitees following the breakdown of a relationship.

Nicola joined Napthens in 2016, having previously worked as the Head of Civil Litigation at an East Lancashire firm, where she trained and qualified as a solicitor in 2005.
Nicola was educated at Kirkham Grammar School before going on to study Law and Criminology at Sheffield University. She then completed her Legal Practice Course with Distinction at The University of Central Lancashire. Nicola grew up in Kirkham and continues to live in the Preston area with her family.

How do you like to relax out of work?
I enjoy playing netball which I do every week (sometimes too competitively!), internet shopping (too often!) but mostly I enjoy spending time with my close family & friends.
