Jo Cooper
Legal DirectorJo Cooper is a legal director within the corporate team, based in the firm's Preston office.
Jo is experienced in advising businesses across a broad range of industry sectors on corporate matters such as acquisitions, disposals and re-organisations.
She also has experience in advising owner-managed businesses in sales and disposals and management teams involved in private equity transactions and management buy-outs.
A particular interest of Jo’s is supporting manufacturing and hospitality businesses. She has recently worked with a national food manufacturer based in the Lake District on their company restructuring, advising a client during their acquisition of multiple pubs, as well as working with a global brand manufacturing sports protein supplements in a key joint venture arrangement.
Experience
Jo has experience of working on significant transactions, including whilst at Addleshaw Goddard advising shareholders on the £220m disposal of a north west manufacturing business to a US buyer; and advising shareholders (including the private equity house and the management team) on the sale of a leading analytical testing and sampling services in the agricultural sector.
Recent deals include:
- Acting for the shareholders in the sale of the entire issued share capital of EKM Systems
- Acting for Barkby Group plc in the acquisition and sale of businesses within the hospitality sector
- Acting for Miralis Data Limited in connection with the acquisition of assets of Envisij Limited
- Acting for Maven Venture Capital via NPIF in connection with multiple investments
- Acting for the shareholders in the sale of the entire issued share capital of Lantei
- Acting for the shareholders in the sale of Architectural Steel Limited
- Acting for the Shareholders in the sale of Premier Estates Limited
