Summary

Claire is a member of our commercial team and works out of our Preston and Fylde Coast offices.  Claire covers a wide range of commercial contract and regulatory work which includes preparing, reporting on, negotiating and advising clients on a multitude of commercial contracts from general terms and conditions to bespoke and negotiated high value contracts such as distribution, long term supply, and franchise arrangements.

Specialisms

Claire has clients operating across industry sectors.  She has niche expertise within the manufacturing sector, having advised manufacturing clients on a range of commercial contracts including product development and manufacturing agreements, patent, know-how and other Intellectual Property licences, stock underwriting agreements, collaboration agreements, NDA’s, supply, purchase and distribution agreements and material transfer agreements.

Claire is also experienced in consumer law and regularly advises clients in relation to their B2C terms and conditions and statutory obligations towards consumers.  She is also particularly active in the franchise arena, advising both franchisors and franchisees in relation to franchising arrangements.

Claire believes in the importance of enabling her clients to understand their contracts and utilise them effectively.  She therefore delivers bespoke training to clients on their standard documentation as well as basic legal principals and key provisions contained in relevant commercial contracts.

Background

Claire joined Napthens as a trainee in 2010 and qualified into the Corporate Team in 2012.  Always keen on commercial contracts, Claire assisted in all aspects of commercial contract work whilst in the Corporate Team and moved into the Commercial Team permanently in 2017.

Before joining Napthens Claire gained a first class honours degree in Economic and Social History with French at Glasgow University, before going on to complete the law conversion course and Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in Manchester.
