Why Choose Napthens for Your 2026 Solicitor Training Contract

The application window for solicitor training contracts at Napthens is now open for our September 2026 intake. These two-year contracts are available across our offices in Preston, Blackburn, Liverpool, and Southport.
At Napthens, we are proud to currently support 18 trainee solicitors on their journey to qualification, including four individuals progressing through our graduate apprenticeship and apprenticeship pathways.
To offer a first hand perspective, we’re pleased to share insights from Shannon Adamson, who joined Napthens in 2023 as a trainee solicitor and is currently part of our Family team.
Why did you choose to apply to Napthens?
Napthens felt like the firm that had it all, valuable training, widespread presence with a network of offices, friendly and passionate people, and a collaborative and supportive culture.
Do you have any tips for applying?
Take time in preparing your CV and cover letter, and make it relevant to the firm rather than it being general to any firm.
As well as legal experience, include relevant non-legal experience which shows communication, problem solving and leadership. It is good to show you engage well with both clients and other people as part of a team.
What are you enjoying during your training contract at Napthens?
My favourite part of my training contract has been my experience within the family team. As a contentious team, trainees are given the opportunity to attend court hearings at all stages of the case. Observing court proceedings has sharpened my practical understanding of the litigation process beyond what textbooks can offer.
Why should future trainees apply to Napthens?
At Napthens you experience quality training and feel like a valuable member of the team within each training seat. Trainees have the opportunity to observe experienced lawyers and are also trusted with meaningful responsibilities.
