Seniors expands fish and chip brand to St Annes

Award-winning Fylde fish and chip restaurant operators Seniors is to branch out into St Annes with the opening of its fifth site.

Seniors currently runs fish and chip shops in Bispham, Blackpool, Lytham and Thornton. Its Thornton branch was crowned the UK’s best independent takeaway fish and chip shop in 2012.

The chain, run by the Horabin family and founded in Blackpool in 2000, has established a reputation for serving a range of fresh fish caught locally and sustainably, with locally sourced potatoes used for chips.

Now Alastair Horabin has revealed Seniors has acquired a location at 2 Cross Street, St Annes, where it will open a takeaway-only shop branded as a Seniors Express on June 3 – National Fish & Chip Day.

If the shop does well, Alastair expects the Seniors Express brand to grow, with further locations likely to open in the future.

He was advised on the acquisition of the new site, which has been a fish and chip shop for more than 100 years, by Martin Long, partner in the Commercial Property team at Napthens solicitors in Blackpool.

Martin said: “Alastair and his family have worked very hard over the last 15 years to establish a great reputation for a local, family run business offering a quality product. It’s clear that this formula is working well and I look forward to seeing Seniors grow even more in future.”

Alastair Horabin added: “We’ve known for some time we wanted to open another location to grow the brand, and Cross Street ticked all the boxes for us.

“St Annes is a busy location with plenty of footfall in the area, boosted by tourists, and we can’t wait to open.

“This will be our first takeaway-only venue, and if it works as well as we hope, we fully expect it to be the first of a handful of new shops for Seniors.”
