Connecting North West business to relevant training, insight, conversation and each other

Nicola to head HR team

Nicola Mason has been announced as the new director of HR at North West law firm Napthens.

The experienced professional steps up from her role as HR Consultant working within Napthens’ own HR3 People team, where she provided strategic HR support to the firm’s clients requiring practical, hands-on HR expertise within their business.

In her new role as director of HR, she will work with the firm’s partners and senior management to help support the growth and direction of the firm itself. Nicola will lead the development and implementation of the firm’s strategic people plan.

She will also continue to support the firm’s employment and HR team, advising a number of Napthens’ clients on their own HR matters.

The news comes shortly after the HR service offered by Napthens to its clients expanded with the appointment of Stuart Lowery.

Stuart joined Napthens following in-house roles with a number of top retail and distribution businesses. An associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, he has significant experience of the development and improvement of HR services.

Nicola Mason said: “Advising employers on their HR strategies has been very rewarding, and many clients now see our team as an extension of their own businesses.  Helping to build up our consultancy service to where we are seen as a trusted partner has been an achievement I am very proud of.

“While I will continue to work with a small number of clients I’m very much looking forward to the challenge of heading up Napthens’ internal HR function. Napthens takes its responsibilities to its employees very seriously.”

Nicola joined Napthens in 2015 following a career in sectors including business process outsourcing (BPO), oil and gas and recruitment.

She has particular expertise in topics including strategy, employee relations, benefits and change management.

John Whittingslow, CEO of Napthens, said: “Nicola has proven she is a trusted and experienced member of the team and has a great working knowledge of other businesses. We are looking forward to see her bring her skills to her new role.

“We have always been very clear that our strategy is to become the best law firm in the North West and there is no doubt HR will play a key role in this goal.”
