Napthens helps Thwaites acquire new brewery site

Commercial Property experts from Napthens solicitors have led the acquisition of a new site for historic Lancashire brewers Daniel Thwaites plc.

Thwaites confirmed earlier this year that it was proceeding with plans to invest in a new location to replace its current Blackburn town centre site, which would be more efficient and suitable for future plans.

Now it has been revealed that Thwaites has acquired a site at Mellor Brook close to Samlesbury in the Ribble Valley.

David Hill, a partner in the Commercial Property team at Lancashire law firm Napthens, advised Thwaites – a long-standing client of Napthens’ – on the acquisition, including carrying out due diligence, completing options and exchanging contracts.

The purchase is expected to be complete by the end of the year, with development of the new site taking around two years.

David Hill said: “Thwaites has worked hard to find a suitable site which will allow the company to secure the future for its workforce and continue brewing.

“The acquisition represents a landmark in the company’s history and will allow the business to develop from the ground up a state of the art facility which will allow this historic business to continue operating for many more years to come.”
