Napthens assists as nursery business expands with fitness franchise deal

The entrepreneurs behind a well-known chain of children’s nurseries is branching out after securing five franchise territories in the North West.

David and Jackie Hoyle founded the Happy Days Nurseries chain in 1999, and have now built the business to include six branches on The Fylde, including Poulton-Le-Fylde, Blackpool and Thornton-Cleveleys.

Now the family has become franchise-holders for Anytime Fitness, a gym chain recently voted the number one global franchise by Entrepreneur magazine, beating franchises including Subway, McDonald’s and Pizza Hut.

The Hoyles will operate Anytime Fitness branches in Knutsford, Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Hale and Lytham.

Anytime Fitness was founded in America ten years ago, and has now grown to become the world’s largest health chain with almost 3,000 clubs in 23 countries. The gyms are known for their 24-hour access.

The first location to be opened is set to be at Canute Place in Knutsford in January 2016, with negotiations for two further locations ongoing. Martin Long, Commercial Property partner at Napthens solicitors, is advising the Hoyles on the leases.

He said: “David and Jackie have a track record of founding a very successful company, and the Anytime Fitness business model is tried and tested and offers them some great opportunities for expansion into a very different sector.”

David Hoyle added: “We have been looking for a different sector to invest in for some time, and we’re all very excited about the potential offered by the Anytime Fitness franchise.

“We all know obesity is on the up, and we are targeting smaller communities which may not be served particularly well by health and fitness facilities currently. We fully expect this 24/7 offering to be of real interest in particular for young professionals looking to exercise at their own convenience.”
