Napthens advises owners of new Bowness bar

Our experts have advised the entrepreneurs behind a new venue in Bowness set to open its doors next month.

Boaters on Glebe Road near the town’s marina is the brainchild of Scott and Gavin Jones, also the owners of the popular FAB Interiors chain which operates stores in Bowness and Plantation Bridge near Kendal.

A former soft play centre, Boaters, situated next door to the existing FAB Interiors shop within the parade of venues leased by the owners of Windemere Aquatics, will offer visitors a view across Windemere, and a beer and gin menu.

The Jones brothers have also collaborated with Northern Monkey Brewing to create the relaxing environment which offers locally-produced products. The venue is in the process of being refurbished and fitted out ahead of the planned opening in early October.

They were advised by Jamie Allison, head of Real Estate at Napthens, based in Bridge Mills in Kendal, and Malcolm Ireland, head of Leisure & Licensing. The Napthens team advised on property issues and obtained the necessary licence from South Lakeland District Council.

Jamie Allison of Napthens said: “Gavin and Scott have proven their business acumen with the success of the FAB Interiors chain, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do with a leisure-focused offering in such an ideal location.”

Gavin Jones added: “We have created a vibe here which is inclusive to all – be that for a coffee, an aperitif or one of our many beers we will be serving out of our uniquely designed bar alongside traditional bar games like shuffle-board.

“Boaters is a venue which will be open to everyone, including children, until 9pm and we feel we have created a unique experience, by our wonderful lake.

“We are catering for everyone from the yachties right over to the millions of day visitors who head to this beautiful part of the world from far and wide.

“We will have a loyalty programme in place as well as hosting games evenings and we are also planning to offer venue hire to businesses planning seminars and workshops.”
