The entrepreneurs behind a growing Lancashire childcare group have expanded the business with an acquisition.
Simon and Helen Turpie, directors of Learning Curve (Lancashire) Ltd, operate four childcare nurseries in the county – Shepherd Lodge and Clifton Lodge in Lytham St Annes, and Butterfly and Bluebell Lodges in Blackpool.
Now the couple has acquired the former Giggles Nursery on Ballam Road in Lytham St Annes, which will be renamed Lytham Lodge.
In total the group now employs around 130 staff and offers places for 300 children across the group. It was founded 17 years ago with the opening of Shepherd Lodge.
Simon and Helen Turpie were advised by Martin Long, Commercial Property partner and head of the Blackpool & Fylde office at Napthens solicitors, and Kimberley Barrett-St.Vall, Employment partner.
Martin said: “I’ve advised Learning Curve since Simon and Helen acquired their very first nursery, and it’s been great to see how the business has grown over the years.
“This acquisition ticks all the boxes for them, and it’s great to see it become part of the Learning Curve group.”
Simon Turpie added: “Over the last 17 years Learning Curve has grown steadily, and we’ve acquired nurseries where they fit our business model and we know we can offer something different for the community.
“We’re aiming to offer another level of quality care for children in Blackpool and The Fylde, and we’re looking forward to making a success of Lytham Lodge.”
