Napthens advises on marketing agency sale

A team from Napthens has advised on a deal that will create one of the largest creative digital marketing agencies in the North of England.

Fat Media, based in Lancaster, has been acquired by Cumbria-based entrepreneur David Durnford. It will join forces with Motive Technology, a Kendal-based digital agency also owned by Mr Durnford which will be re-branded Fat Media as part of the deal.

Fat Media also operates offices in Barrow and London, and employs 68 staff. The company was advised by a team from Napthens led by Corporate partner Rob Dobson, and including Benjamin Dredge, Corporate solicitor; Louise Smith, Employment solicitor; and Commercial Property solicitor Gareth Birch.

Rob Dobson said: “The acquisition is a great fit and will create a significant business which is well placed to seek out fresh opportunities and success.”

Fat Media works with a range of brands including major North West names such as Lakeland, , St Helens RLFC and Blackpool Winter Gardens as well as national and international clients such as Servisair, Glaxo SmithKline, Warburtons and Mitsubishi.

Motive Technology works with Macdonald Hotels, Jessops, The Stobart Group and Yotel.
