Lancashire law firm raises over £10,000 for charity

Napthens solicitors has helped raise a grand total of more than £10,000 for local good causes in the last financial year.

The law firm chooses charities each year to support, with staff taking part in numerous fundraising activities.

During 2014/15, the Preston office supported St Catherine’s Hospice and helped the firm raise more than £7,000 through events including dress down days and a charity bike ride.

The hospice care provided by St Catherine’s costs the charity around £5m a year to run, with just a quarter provided by the NHS. In total, £3.7m must be raised through charitable support each year.

Chris Boyle, partner at Napthens, said: “St Catherine’s Hospice does incredible work for people facing very tough times, and our staff certainly pulled out all the stops to make sure we raised as much money as we could to help them carry on this work.”

Lynne Whittaker, senior fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice, thanked the Napthens team for their wonderful support.

She added: “Their enthusiasm and support, particularly at events including the Big Charity Bike Ride and our annual Santa Dash, has been fantastic.

“We’re delighted they chose to support St Catherine’s last year and hoped they enjoyed the experience too. The money they have raised will be used to fund the care and support St Catherine’s provides to local people, helping those affected by life-shortening conditions to enjoy quality of life and have dignity in death.”

The East Lancs office at Blackburn were supporting Blackburn Youth Zone throughout the year, raising just shy of £3,000 for the local charity. They will continue to support Blackburn Youth Zone in the upcoming year.

Oliver McCann, head of the East Lancashire office said: “The Youth Zone is a great local good cause and the staff are passionate about supporting it.

“We’re looking forward to another great year of fundraising and hopefully even beating our last total. We’d urge all our clients and professional contacts to support us in any way they can.”

Staff in the law firm’s Preston and Penrith offices have now selected the North West Air Ambulance as their chosen charity for 2015.

The firm’s office at Blackpool have decided to support Aspired Futures in the coming year, a charity which provides long-term, life-changing therapeutic services for vulnerable children and young people.
