Employment workshop with Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone
As part of our ongoing support of Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone, we recently held an employability workshop.
The event was part of our social mobility strategy to support the expansion of opportunities for people from a wider demographic to access the legal sector.
A welcome talk was given by partner and head of the East Lancashire office, Oli McCann before Simon Price (head of learning and development), Daniel Grinsted (talent acquisition business partner) and Adeel Rashid (people team administrator), took the session.
During the sessions, Simon, Daniel and Adeel carried out employment exercises with the young people, to help them find their strengths, and gain valuable tips and advice about CVs interviews, both online and in person.
Everyone worked together to create job goals and started to build an employability plan for each person in attendance.
We will be following up in the new year with support on a one-to-one basis and spending more time at the Youth Zone.
Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone is located at the heart of Blackburn, and open to young people aged five to 25 years old.
It aims to change the prospects offered to young people in the area, by offering a state-of-the-art facility for children and young adults to have space for ‘somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to’.
This happens in partnership with young people rather than on their behalf, and we’re proud to continue to support the charity as it helps young people move forward and reach their full potential, regardless of the many barriers they may face.
