Claybank acquired by motor giant Lookers

A Manchester Skoda dealership has been acquired by one of the UK’s leading motor retail businesses.

The business and assets of Claybank, Liverpool Road, have been acquired by listed group, Lookers Plc for an undisclosed sum.

The Skoda franchise, which employs 34 staff, will continue to operate as Lookers continues its expansion plans.

Last year Lookers acquired Benfield Motor Group, including 30 dealerships located across the North of England and Scotland.

Claybank was advised by the team at Napthens solicitors led by Keith Melling with support from Roshni Valibhai, Anthony Fox and Gareth Birch.

Keith Melling, partner, said: “Gary and Andy have worked hard to see Claybank become a successful dealership, and this deal will mean the future of the business will now be secured under the stewardship of Lookers.”

Claybank was also advised by UHY Hacker Young accountants. Lookers was advised by Eversheds.
