Charity clay shoot raises £7.5k

A charity event hosted by Napthens solicitors has helped raise £7,500 for East Lancashire good cause Blackburn Youth Zone.

The day at the Coniston Hotel and Country Estate in Skipton saw 18 teams gather together for a day of clay pigeon shooting and refreshments.

The shoot itself was followed by a charity auction, raffle and prize ceremony, featuring awards for best shot, worst shot, best team and the best dressed.

Intended as a day to be enjoyed by beginners and experts alike, as well as a networking opportunity, the funds raised will support the Blackburn-based charity to support projects for young people including mentoring.

Laura Phelan, events manager at Blackburn Youth Zone, said: “I am blown away by the support Napthens has shown the young people in this community over the past three years.

“Not only is the firm a proud patron of the Youth Zone, it has also raised nearly £20,000 by taking part in a variety of fundraising activities including staff bake-offs, dress-down days, world record attempts, waxed legs, cycle challenges and of course the clay shoot.

“We can’t thank Napthens staff and clients enough for their continued support. They really do believe in changing the lives of young people for the better.”

The youth zone is one of Napthens’ chosen charities for the year. Staff in the Preston office are raising funds for the North West Air Ambulance, in Blackpool for children’s charity Aspired Futures, and the Cumbrian offices in Kendal and Penrith for the Cumbria Community Foundation.
