Napthens advises as Barrow’s SN Group moves to new HQ
A well-known Barrow-in-Furness engineering business has moved to new headquarters in a move that will allow for future growth.
Family-owned SN Group is a specialist in fabrication, mechanical and machining support to sectors including oil & gas, power and defence, both in the UK and overseas.
Founded in 1935 the move has seen the high profile local business consolidate two companies, Scurrah Nassau Engineering and St Andrew’s Engineering, to one site at Peter Green Way in Barrow.
With a history of working for major customers, including BAE Systems and Centrica, SN Group, which employs more than 60 people, is now run by Tony Keen, son of the business’ founder.
Tony was advised on the move by Kate Mallaband, partner and head of the Cumbrian Commercial Property team at Napthens solicitors in Penrith and Kendal. Kate advised on issues including securing the lease of the property, formerly occupied by well-known local business Oxley.
Kate Mallaband of Napthens said: “This is a great move for the group, bringing its businesses together under one roof in a way which will still allow for future growth.
“While SN Group has been in business for more than 80 years, under Tony’s leadership it has expanded to offer more services than ever in just a few short years.
“This move will mean the Barrow business community can look forward to decades more of success from SN Group.”
Tony Keen, owner and MD of SN Group, added: “SN Group is experiencing a strong period of growth and we are keen to build on this and ensure we are positioned to face the future in the best way.
“We took the decision to consolidate the two business premises into one new HQ for a number of reasons. It will give us more opportunity to grow as we take on new customers and staff, and make us more operationally efficient as a business.”
