Andrew Clare is head of the corporate department. Having previously worked for international law firms Baker & McKenzie (London), Hammonds (Manchester) and US firm Latham & Watkins (Tokyo), Andrew has wide ranging experience in both domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. Andrew also specialises in private equity transactions and is particularly active in the MBO market. In addition to his mainstream practice areas, Andrew also advises a number of Japanese companies in the UK and his Japan business practice distributes a specialist quarterly newsletter in Japanese.
Andrew has established himself as a leading advisor in the corporate market and has advised clients across the world. In 2008 he was awarded North West Insider's Lancashire Dealmakers Corporate Lawyer of the Year' and was voted 'Intermediary of the Year' by the North West Society of Chartered Accountants.
Andrew studied Japanese language at Sheffield University, graduating as a mature student in 1991. After gaining a masters degree in the Faculty of Law of Kobe University in Japan, Andrew completed his legal training at Manchester Metropolitan University. Andrew joined the firm in 2004 and became Partner in 2006.
His interests include playing sport with his children and reading and translating modern Japanese literature.
