Richard is a partner in the personal injury department, based in the Preston office. Over more than 25 years of legal practice he has handled a huge variety of claims ranging from minor injuries to substantial claims.
Specialisms
Richard’s client portfolio is a wide one and he has experience of dealing with most types of injury claims. Within the personal injury department he is responsible for ongoing training for all legal staff.
Background
Richard was educated at Preston Catholic College and then read law at The University of Nottingham before completing his legal training at the College of Law in Chester. After 3 years working in Manchester he joined Napthens where he has remained ever since.

How do you like to relax out of work?
Taking part in amateur dramatics (especially comedies), long distance walking, playing badminton and going to the theatre. In addition, I have also been involved for many years in charity work, helping disabled and disadvantaged children and their families.
What is your proudest achievement?
Making a positive difference to people’s lives (whether in a charity or professional context)
What would go in your Room 101?
Any behaviour involving discrimination or sectarian views, and unnecessary bureaucracy.
What aspects of your job do you find most rewarding?
Being able to help people obtain redress for injuries or losses, which without legal help they would not be able to do.
