Summary
John is a partner in the litigation team based in Preston. He acts for a wide range of clients in matters such as partnership disputes, through to landlord and tenant issues for business and residential properties, as well as disputes over wills and estates, ownership of interests in property, professional negligence, defamation and contractual disputes.
Specialisms
John is a highly experienced litigator. Over the years he has built up a particular expertise in dealing with the agricultural community, particularly through Napthens’ panel membership of the NFU, advising on issues such as contractual and land disputes and partnership issues.
Background
John is a founder partner of the firm of Napthens which was created by the merger of Houghton Craven Dicksons, with whom he trained and became a partner, and Napthen Renwick & Hosker in 1990. He became managing partner of Napthens which post he held for 5 years and until recently was the head of the litigation department until his appointment to serve as deputy district judge on the north-east circuit.
John read PPE at Oxford before converting to law and qualifying as a solicitor in 1985. He lives on the Fylde coast where he was born and educated.
