Summary
John heads up the Napthens’ Chorley office and is responsible for a multi disciplinary team of lawyers. As part of this role, John is heavily involved with and has a strong network within the local business community in Chorley.
John manages a team of personal injury lawyers at Chorley as part of Napthens’ personal injury department. He is himself typically involved in complex high value claimant personal injury litigation involving significant issues such as loss of future earning capacity and has extensive contacts within the personal injury field such as Senior Personal Injury Barristers, Consulting Forensic Engineers, Consultant Surgeons and Occupational Therapists.
Specialisms
John specialises in more complex personal injury claims and in particular claims that involve significant future losses. He has a specialist interest in industrial accidents, especially complex accidents involving defective equipment and/or breakdown in processes.
John has a particular interest in recovering loss of earnings and setting up care regimes in cases where there has been a significant injury. He regularly undertakes matters where liability is denied and in appropriate case is happy to take matters to a Hearing and aggressively pursue the claim.
Background
John was educated at Holy Cross High School in Chorley and Preston Catholic College. He studied law at Preston Polytechnic and qualified as a Solicitor in 1987. He became a Partner in Wallwork & Company Solicitors in 1989, subsequently merging with Napthens in 2007. For the past 15 years John has spent a large part of his time in personal injury litigation and over the past 3 years has concentrated solely in claimant personal injury litigation.
Memberships and awards
John is a Member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and has been a Member since its inception. John is also an Assessor to the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and has been so for over 10 years. John has also sat on a committee that selected lawyers to act in litigation involving claims in excess of £150m.
He has been a Trustee and Board Member of Chorley and South Ribble Citizens Advice Bureau for more than 20 years and has been involved in various projects at a strategic level for the Citizens Advice Bureau over the years.

How do you like to relax out of work?
I relax out of work through my interests in hill walking, horse riding, sub aqua diving and skiing.
What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is winning a case and obtaining damages for somebody who’s life has been significantly affected by an accident
