Summary
Andrew Clare is a partner in the firm’s corporate department and manages the Blackburn office corporate team. He is also jointly responsible with the other Blackburn based partners for the business development of the office within the region.
Andrew has wide ranging experience in both domestic and cross border mergers and acquisitions. He also specialises in private equity transactions and is particularly active in the MBO market. Andrew also represents a number of public companies and has significant experience in advising companies in relation to IPO’s on the AIM Market.

Andrew has established himself as a leading adviser in the corporate market and has advised clients across the world. He has a particular expertise and is well known for his work with Japanese businesses and acts for a number of UK based Japanese subsidiaries. As a fluent speaker of Japanese and with his international experience, Andrew heads up Napthens'
Japan Legal team, offering a range of tailored, commercial services for Japanese businesses in the UK.
Background
Andrew qualified as a solicitor with Baker & McKenzie in London in 1998. He subsequently worked as a corporate lawyer for Hammond Suddards’ Manchester office and US Firm Latham & Watkins’ Tokyo office before joining Napthens in 2004.
Andrew studied Japanese language at Sheffield University, graduating as a mature student in 1991. After gaining a masters degree in the Faculty of Law of Kobe University in Japan, Andrew completed his legal training at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Andrew is a member of the British Japanese Law Association.
In 2009 Andrew was awarded North West Insider's ‘Lancashire Dealmakers Corporate Lawyer of the Year' for the second year running and has been voted 'Intermediary of the Year' by the North West Society of Chartered Accountants.

I like to relax out of work by spending time with my family, particularly playing sport with my children.

What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding?
Getting the deal done in line with clients’ expectations is the most rewarding aspect of my job.

Lecturing in Japanese Studies at Cambridge or Harvard!
