John is the Head of our Commercial Division. John personally specialises in Commercial and Civil litigation work, where he has acquired a high level of expertise in dealing with Dispute Resolution.

John has particular experience in Commercial Contract disputes, claimant and defendant, Breach of Warranty claims, Supply of Goods and Services disputes and commercial Landlord and Tenant matters. He handles high value cases for clients and is currently involved in several cases where value exceeds £1m. He also handles lower value matters where a senior litigator is required owing to the complexities or sensitivities of the case.

He acts for a wide range of clients from PLCs with annual turnovers exceeding £150million to small and medium-sized enterprises, sole traders and individuals representing them in contractual and commercial property disputes. John’s major clients include EH Booths, Kensington Developments, Thompson Developments, Daniel Thwaites Plc and PMMS Consulting Group.

John was educated at King Edward VII School in Lytham before going on to study Law in Leeds. He qualified in 1990, going on to become Partner with Roscoes (now Napthens) in 1995. John is married to Emma and has two children, Bethany and Lucy. Apart from the family other interests outside of the office revolve largely around sport, being a fan of Manchester City, and also playing golf to what he describes as a “reasonable but not spectacular handicap”.
