Napthens, based at 12-16 St Thomas’s Road, was previously Wallwork & Company until the two firms merged in 2007.

Wallwork & Company had been based at the St Thomas’s Road address since the 1920s, becoming a household name in the town. The merger made Napthens one of the largest law firms in the region.

Now the legal practice, under the Napthens banner, is moving to the larger, 10-12 St Thomas’s Road address, to allow for future growth and better facilities.

John Crompton, partner at Napthens, who had also been a partner with Wallwork & Company for more than 20 years, said: “We spent some time looking for suitable locations in the town, and by a lucky coincidence the office next door became available. We are delighted to remain in a central location serving the local community.

“Even though we are only moving down the road it will be a wrench for us to move out of these offices after so long in the building. Many of our staff have been here for many years, and the firm as a whole has acted for many generations of the same families and local businesses in the town.

“However, since the merger with Napthens we have been able to offer a full service of both private and commercial client work, and the time has come to make the move to more appropriate facilities.

“Work will continue uninterrupted as it has done for more than 90 years and we all look forward to welcoming clients to the new premises.”
